A couple weeks ago I asked my friend to think about what kind of cake she might like for her birthday which falls during the first full day of the winter solstice and three days before Christmas. This is it. There are three layers of fresh lemon cake, fresh seedless raspberry/blackberry filling and berry buttercream. I say it’s deluxe because it’s labor and time intensive but worth it for the flavor combination which hits the taste buds.

Oh, yeah. There was one not long ago. See? I’m thinking this is a cake to teach the girls who like it so much. I already know how. A bonus … all the color and no food dyes.
