Sour Cream Twists

Before mahjongg this afternoon, a bit of baking for my ladies.

This is a cookie we made at Christmastime when I was young, twisting the dough pieces into a candy cane shape rather than straight like these. I’ve had it in my recipe box for a long time, but haven’t made it in at least 20 years so a decision was made to have a go today, a little test. It’s a yeast cookie made with butter and sour cream, the dough with no sugar in it, but sugar added by way of rolling and folding dough over before cutting in preparation for baking. Also, hello pizza cutter!

See those layers? Roll. Fold. Roll. Cut. Twist. Bake. Oh, Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree.
