Mark brought me some crystalised, candied ginger pieces all ready to go into a cookie batter and some dried cranberries and suggested an oatmeal cookie would be nice, soon, sometime in the next two weeks. Oh, and some raisins, too, and walnuts. I told him that my oatmeal cookies do not have butter or shortening or oil in them, that they’re chewy and dense with all those good things, held together with an egg. So many good things that the dough has to be kneaded. It’s worth the trouble and I made only one dozen. Two were shared with the person who gave me those beautiful peonies. Photos of brown cookies with bits of oatmeal, fruits and nuts are a dime a dozen, but look at the color of those peonies! Art and cookies.
And because those peonies are so beautiful, here they are again in another setting.

Thank you to the person who gave me the flowers in my very favorite color. Thanks to Mark for the cookie suggestion. He wanted the ginger to be the star, and it is.
