That’s right. It’s my birthday and I’ve baked myself a cake to share. Rather than a 3-layer banana nut cake, which is my favorite, it’s a sheet cake which is easier to share with more people. The nuts were left out because many here cannot have nuts and it has Buttermilk frosting rather than the shortening-filled creamy nut frosting which I loved for years until I didn’t.
I’ve been having a bit of sneaky fun for the past week, going about the building after most are in their beds and putting colorful dotted balloons here and there, creating a bit of mystery and joy. Last night as I was placing the last four of them after the cake photograph, I found that they’d been gathered and placed on the mobile tea tray in the community room, so I got a little surprise, too.
